Did you ever get in trouble for doodling in class?

Tell us about the time you got busted for doodling or as we call it at RandomLine, “squiggling” in class. When I was in school, and I’m talking about my entire school days from first grade to 12th grade . . . I doodled all the time (hence the SQUIGGLE doodle pads). My notebooks were littered with doodling graffiti. I was once told to go sit in the hall way for the entire period for expressing my creativity on the chalkboard before class started. Yeah, I was that kid who thought it was funny to draw an inappropriate picture to get a laugh from each peer as they walked in the room. I quickly learned and changed my style from shock value to a more toned down graffiti . . . bubble letters! I was the master at writing someone’s name in bubble letters, then spending hours detailing it with drop shadows, shading, textures and colors.

There are numerous studies out there that say, doodling makes you smarter, doodling helps you focus, doodling may curve daydreaming . . . what do you think? Give us your opinion about doodling in class.

Stop doodling and pay attention!

Doodling Can Make You Smarter

Smart People Doodle — Smart People Play Squiggle

Morris Plains, NJ (PRWEB) November 11, 2009 — In a recent study published in the journal Applied Cognitive Psychology, psychologist Jackie Andrade of the University of Plymouth in England showed that doodlers actually remember more than non-doodler when asked to retain tediously delivered information. Doodling aids memory as it prevents a person from daydreaming. Doodling requires very few executive resources, but just enough cognitive effort to keep a person from daydreaming, and focusing on what is happening around them. Doodling forces your brain to expend just enough energy to stop it from daydreaming, but allows you to continue to pay attention.

SQUIGGLE On-The-Go
SQUIGGLE On-The-Go

RandomLine’s SQUIGGLE product line is the perfect choice to help reinforce doodling from children to adults. Children who doodle can do better in school, as they will stay better focused instead of drifting off. Adults will be more successful if they doodle when in long meetings in order to remember details discussed.

Alphabet SQUIGGLE Wins a NAPPA Award

RandomLine is proud to announce that Alphabet SQUIGGLE won a National Parenting Publications Awards.

Alphabet SQUIGGLE is a fun, educational board game that introduces letters to kids in a clever new way. Kids will learn and improve letter recognition, stimulate their imagination and strengthen their vocabulary. Children who are just learning letters and those who already know them will enjoy playing. Watch how surprised they get when they see how much they can do with letters.

Players move along the pencil path of letters. For every letter a player lands on, that player must find the letter on the outside edge of the board and either trace it or write it from memory on the sketch paper provided. If they’re feeling creative, they can turn their letter tracing into a picture, write a word that begins with that letter, or create a drawing that begins with and reinforces that letter.

It’s simple, fun and engaging.
